Jesus speaks strongly regarding our human nature to look at the faults of everyone else while we ignore our own faults. He uses the comparison of a plank of wood versus a wood fiber. The essence of this comparison is that looking at our own sin will bring us to a point of realizing God’s great mercy for us. God’s mercy is the only healthy lens to look at anyone else.
