The meal begins a memorable series of experiences of betrayal, beating, mockery, and death… to which Jesus states, “I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” Jesus, with extreme passion, looks forward to future time when Passover will have a new and eternal look.
