Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

I Corinthians 13:4 – 7

Love is not in a rush – it can wait if something is important.

Love is not intentionally hurtful or upset because you got something nice.

Love is cheering, encouraging and humble.

It will not gossip or put you down.

Love isn’t selfishly motivated.

Love forgives mistakes and doesn’t bring them up at a later time.

True love isn’t mean or spiteful, but wants the best. It doesn’t shy away from truth but is always honest.

Love wouldn’t throw you under the bus, be paranoid, or controlling. Love is NOT a bully.

Love is not hopeless and will try and try and try!

And …. without God, I can’t do it! It is only because Christ lives in me and I can call on the Holy Spirit that I can love. There are days I don’t FEEL like loving, there are people I don’t WANT to love, there are circumstances that make it PAINFUL to love. God showed me love and I must abide in (dwell), and put my efforts into a relationship with HIM. This is a constant struggle but I am praying that I can be more like him and love even those that make it hard!

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal  life.      John 3:16

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.      1 John 4:8

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.       1 John 4:10 – 11
