Humility
God’s Word is timeless!
It endures from generation to generation.
It does not become outdated.
Jesus’ way is one that draws people, all ages and all cultures,
to truth, to unconditional and sacrificial love,
to experience life in its fullness.
As we get older, we know more fully the range of that love.
We want to pass on all that we have learned
to those in our family, those in need who surround us, and we try.
We teach by word and example.
Our humanness sometimes compromises
the truths we seek to teach, and others are quick to point it out.
We tend to forget, at such times, that God smiles in favor
as we acknowledge our humanity and ask forgiveness.
He accepts us as we are. Why do we struggle so?
God used Jesus’ humanity to show His love
to people who, wrongfully,
thought perfection was what God sought.
God never created us to be as Himself.
We were never created to be perfect,
but to be perfectly who He created us to be,
aware of our humanity and our need for Him,
aware of His sovereignty, His love, and His sufficiency!
God’s love is best demonstrated through our humility,
acknowledging that we are who we are,
a people whose thoughts and behaviors
are often self-focused and hurtful to others.
Acknowledging our weaknesses, our mistakes, our sin,
never detracts from God’s message of love.
It simply acknowledges our ongoing need
to stay in relationship with Him,
knowing that He will one day
complete the work that He is doing in us
and we will be with Him forever.
